Urban - Precious
The brief for this project was to produce a piece of work in any medium in response to the urban environment. At a later stage a further condition was added - that the work should be seen as 'precious'. My initial response was to carry out some fairly detailed research into the role of coffee shops both historically and present day. I planned to make a book using a variety of media, imagery and source material. The book is still to be completed.
'Twelve Golden Sections' evolved out of this work and is a kind of performance piece where the roles of artist, curator and audience become blurred. Members of a viewing group draw lots to decide the roles of 'curators' or 'audience'.

Notes for curators
The items’ surfaces are delicate and so must be handled with great care.
The arrangement and display of the items is completely flexible and is entirely at the discretion of you the curator(s).
