Meeting Rachel

'Meeting Rachel’ is the third in an open-ended series of pieces based on artists whose work I have found particularly impressive. The idea is to make something that comments on and reacts to some of the artists’ work and makes some connection with ideas or work of my own.

Whiteread is best known for her individual vision based on casting interior three-dimensional spaces in different materials. Her project ‘House’ of 1993 was both monumental and transient. My 3D piece includes casting in jesmonite and polyester resin and like all the ‘meetings’ in this project it is scaled down to15cm. The time-based graphic component is made with the coding program P5js.
