Detours
‘Detours’ is an ongoing series of projects exploring the role of chance. Each Detour begins with an invited collaborator throwing a dice or making up nonsense words. In the early detours dice throws lead to books from which pages were chosen by the collaborator either deliberately or at random and the page contents became the subject for a project. In the majority of the detours invented nonsense words are Google searched for possible meanings which also become the starting point for a piece of work. There is then a period of research in which the collaborator can be as much or as little involved as they wish. Only at quite a late stage is a medium chosen and the form of the work decided. Detours can have one or more outcomes.
It is important that each Detour is a kind of mystery tour starting from zero with as few limits as possible placed on the outcome. There is no intention to develop an individual style and the results can be very divergent.
