Meeting Fiona
‘Meeting Fiona’ is the seventh in an open-ended series of pieces based on artists whose work I have found particularly interesting.
Central to Banner’s practice has been her survey of the world’s military aircraft.
In 2007 she decorated the Christmas tree at Tate Britain with model fighter planes and 2010 saw her unforgettable installation of decommissioned Harrier and Jaguar aircrafts in the Duveen Hall at the Tate. These were subsequently melted down and cast into ingots.
Another recurring aspect of her work is her interest in text and its relationship with both language and the visual world and film. My time-based component for this project relates to our perception of text and the process of reading and was made with Final Cut Pro X video editing.
